Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors

This instant #1 internationally bestselling "explosive tell-all" (Daily Express, London) reveals the inside story about Meghan Markle's journey from minor actress and attempted activist to the woman powerful enough to drive a wedge within the British Royal Family.

After a childhood spent on Hollywood film sets, Meghan Markle fought hard for stardom. But even when she landed her breakthrough role on Suits, her dream of worldwide celebrity remained elusive until she met the man who would change her life-Prince Harry. Their whirlwind romance culminated with Meghan's ultimate fairy tale ending: their 2018 wedding at Windsor Castle. Finally, the world was her stage.

It seemed that the dizzying success of the wedding between the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex marked the beginning of a fresh era for the British Royal Family. Yet, within one tumultuous year, the dream became a nightmare. In the aftermath of the infamous Megxit split and their Oprah Winfrey interview, the increasingly toxic relationship between the two Windsor sides seemed forever ruptured.

What does the future hold for Meghan and Harry? And can the rest of the Windsors restore their reputation?

Now, with extensive research and exclusive insider interviews, Britain's leading investigative biographer unravels the tangled web of courtroom drama, courtier politics, and thwarted childhood dreams to reveal this "bombshell" (The Mirror, London) story of love, betrayal, secrets, deceit, and revenge.

This is my second review of this book after having read the book again after my first review. Having taken a little more time with my second reading to fully grasp the implications and explore more deeply Bower's words, what strikes me are two things: Harry's absolute hatred on his own family and the sheer volume of untruths and distortions manufactured by the Harkles. It would appear that Harry's bitterness and betrayal of his family stems from his deep-seated jealousy of his brother which festered from an early age. William's happy marriage to Catherine along with Harry's forced retirement of the army due to his lack of qualifications and hence promotion, further exacerbated his feelings of being an inadequate spare part. With the arrival of Markle in his life he was persuaded that he could better his brother and this appears to have been his aim ever since regardless of the damage he has caused, and continues to cause, to the family that truly loved him. With regard to Markle, the story is of a thoroughly spoiled child who never wanted for anything while she lived with her father, Thomas; the man she so cruelly neglects and despises today. In a desperate plan to support herself after 'Suits' came an end, she didn't have the talent or recognition for any other big acting roles, and so she went on the hunt for a rich, white husband. She and her 'friends' contrived a date with Harry and the rest as they say is history. I found it jaw dropping the amount of untruths, manipulations and distortions the Harkles produced to try and fulfil the life of fame, wealth and world saviourhood that Markle had undoubtedly promised Harry after his departure from the royal family. Every chapter details lie after lie after lie that the Harkles shamelessly spewed with only their own self-interest and advantage being of any concern to them while they trampled over, discredited and ghosted those who were no longer of use to them. It takes at least a couple of readings of this book to fully appreciate and absorb the enormity of the deceit and manipulation perpetrated by this abominable couple.

This has to be the finest biography thus far about Harry and Meg. It shows how Meg started out a genuinely good kid, but devolved mentally and emotionally into someone who was living out a narrative and assigning people roles that had nothing to do with the reality of her life and how good she had it. Harry is painted unfairly in ways I disagree with and I am of the view that the palace should NEVER have assigned Harry the role of the fall-guy and William should have been held to account for his actions. Thing is, that Meg was unfairly bashed by the press and it is the fault of the palace for not putting some kind of a stop to it. I do not believe that Meg was doing exceptionally terrible things up until it became clear that Meg was beginning to unravel and her whining grated. She had no right to complain about her life or how she had it rough. I do not think she will end up in a good place and she's been attacking the BRF in ways that she attacked her family after she cut them loose and walked out on her relationships with them.

I’m a bit disappointed in that I’d wanted a little more proof or disproof of the stories of Meghan’s 1st annulled marriage, the supergluing incident, the previous children she bore, and the surrogacies. Nothing either way on any of these topics. What there was was lots of meticulously footnoted evidence as to her character. (I don’t think mr bowers can be sued for anything he’s said). The book reinforced my opinion of Meghan. However, I understand that there are now a few additional chapters to be had. I’m not sure how one can just ge the updates. I don’t really want to buy the book again just for a few new chapters. Interestingly, amazon doesn’t show that I bought the book through them unless I got to the “review my digital orders” tab…and there it says it’s no longer available. Yet, I can search for the book, find it, and it says I’ve not purchased it. Very strange.

I received a copy of this book from a friend across the pond as it took so very long to come to the US. I bought this on pre-order because of the supposed added chapters that were to appear in the US printing. The first thing I did was compare the chapters and number of chapters, then the total pages. They are exactly the same. The US copy has a slightly different dust jacket and that's it. Though I totally encourage you to read this book I will be returning my Amazon copy as there is no need to have 2 identical books.

I am all for women of Power. I just finished reading this well researched book. I had to take a few days to compose myself to write this review as I am angry about how awful Meghan has turned out to be. She is a woman who has read a few pop psychology, environmental and gender books whilst trying to hitch her wagon to the well-known true celebrities of that ilk, Angelina Jolie, Emma Watson as she aimed for an unwarranted and unearned UN Ambassadorship. Her only plan is to boost Brand Meghan. How disappointing she has been. My prediction she might last 3yrs in the Royal Family was on point As a British person who lives in the US. Meghan is clearly toxic. Her arrogance to think the ancient institution of the British Royal Family would bow to her will is astounding! She could have used her position to do good for "The Firm". She did not take advice; she did not want to walk behind Kate or curtsy to anyone, she took and encouraged freebies (not allowed). She underestimated the vicious British press, got rid of anyone who didn't agree with her, turned small issues into big dramas to make herself "a victim" of imagined slights. She clings onto Harry in case he runs away. He needs to wake up. She sued the Mail on Sunday over publishing her letter to her father on the bases it was a private and personal letter, yet she publicly threw her dad and TRF under the bus. One rule for her and another for the rest of us. Oprah you did not ask the hard questions and Gayle King you are both being used. Harry and Meghan are nothing without their titles (King Charles take them away!). Her podcast with Serena was about her. I think there is kindness in Meghan, but it has gotten lost in her created slights, paranoia and scripted stories of Hollywood. I can totally see her bullying. Ask all her ghosted friends and ex staff. I feel sorry for TRF, Harry, Archie and Lilibet. Ugh! Ugh! The reality of not being "Working Royals" has hit. Everything she does is picked on a bases of how can it be of advantage to Meghan and her coffers. No wonder TRF kept her at arm's length during the Queens Funeral. She monetarizes anything Royal. She has a lot of lawyers to pay.
