The book was decent, I gave it five stars because the writing was good. The story was decent lacking a lot in build up department. The characters were not extremely likable, and you felt nothing when they died. Overall it wasn't a bad short read but definitely not my cup of tea.

I wait year after year to find the few well-written and science-based sci-fi, to feel the tiny hairs rising on the back of my neck in suspense, to immerse myself in richly drawn characters, and to connect to heart-aching drama - this novel has it all. Thank you, Ness!

After reading Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes last year, I've been on the lookout for more space horror books. This popped up in my Instagram feed a bunch of times with good reviews, so I bumped it to the top of my tbr. It was... fine. There were some definite creepy moments (especially with the android, Watson), but the plot felt a little too familiar, and I kept putting it down and picking it back up. That said, it was a strong debut, and I would love to read more from Ness Brown in the future!

Wow, this was a nail biting ride from start to finish. The perfect mix of sci-fi and horror. I would love to see a follow-up to this novella, especially after that ending. The story and action was so tense. I really have no complaints, apart from there being little character development, which is understandable due to the shorter length of the story. Ness Brown essentially sacrificed depth for plot. There were so many aspects of this novella that I would have loved to explore more. Overall, this is a great story to read in one sitting and it will make you want to watch the movie Alien after.
