The Christmas Owl: Based on the True Story of a Little Owl Named Rockefeller
A New York Times bestseller! Experience the beautiful story that captivated the country about a little owl found in the world's most famous Christmas tree.
When Little Owl's home is cut down by people saying it will make a beautiful Christmas tree, she's not sure she wants anything to do with Christmas, whatever that means. But then she is saved by a woman named Ellen, whose house is merrily decorated for the holiday, and filled with birds who need someone to care for them. Surrounded by kindness and helpful new friends, Little Owl begins to wonder if Christmas might not be such a bad thing after all….
Co-written by Ellen Kalish, caretaker of the real owl found inside the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, The Christmas Owl is a charming story of friendship, compassion, and the true meaning of this special time of year.

Purchased as a Birthday or Christmas gift (I can't decide yet) for a special niece, who lives in New York City and knew of the newspaper accounts of this little owl, but maybe not quite the way it's depicted in the book. The illustrations are colorful and beautifully rendered. I know she's going to love this book!

Ellen of Ravensbeard Birds of Prey Rehab was running severely low on cash at the end of 2020. My wife is a very close friend of Ellen and when the first faceBook posts were made to friends and family, I realized that we were at the base of a Viral pyramid, and it was exciting and amazing to watch the story explode and then, "through the miracle of Christmas" Ravensbeard was able spend more time caring for Birds of Prey than trying to keep the lights on. The book is quite large, professionally illustrated, capturing the look in that little owl's eye and has a beautiful glitter snowflake finish on the slip cover that I haver never seen before (former print buyer), which I heard was a gift from the production crew. It really is a beautiful book. Congratulations Ellen!

I bought this book because I know of Ravensbeard wildlife rescue as a wonderful place for animal rescue and rehab in the Catskills. The story was beautifully written, full of cute furry friends and messages of love. I bought several copies as holiday gifts ( Hanukkah & Christmas :) Yes, that phone plugs into the wall 😆
