I thought I would give this book a try but was worried it would be another diet book that I read as part of my annual New Year's resolution to lose weight and then end up not doing anything with it and putting it in my large pile of other discarded diet books -- but boy, was I happily mistaken!! This is not a traditional diet book at all. In fact, this book has easy-to-follow "hacks" to help even out blood sugar after meals. I had gestational diabetes and also pre-diabetes and have had blood sugar and resulting energy issues post meals. I started trying some of her tips for example, change the order in which to eat food groups at a meal, and I am already feeling a real difference. I really liked her illustrations showing a graphic difference of blood sugar levels -- particularly helpful for me was to not eat sugar on an empty stomach. I recommend this book.

This is the most useful, realistic and practical book on healthy eating I have ever read. Not to mention the easiest to read. The first part has scientific explanations that are engaging and easy to understand (I know-shocking, right?). Then come the hacks-wow! They’re easy to do and make it easy to improve your veggie intake. I have never felt that I would be able to give up sugar but after reading the Glucose Revolution I feel I can definitely lower my sugar intake and glucose spikes without totally depriving myself. If you have a sugar issue you NEED to read this book. It’s seriously life changing. Oh and make sure to follow the Glucose Goddess on instagram!

Navigating our health sometimes feels like glancing into an airplane cockpit on the way to our seat. We see complicated stuff everywhere: screens, dials, flashing lights, knobs, switches, levers… buttons to the left, buttons to the right, buttons on the ceiling (no, but really, why do they have buttons on the ceiling?). We look away feeling grateful that the pilots know what they are doing. As passengers, all we care about is whether or not the plane stays in the air.

When it comes to our bodies, we are the clueless passengers, but-plot twist-we're also the pilots. And if we don't know how our bodies work, it's as if we're flying blind.

We know how we want to feel. We want to wake up with a smile, feeling energized and excited for the day. We want to have a skip in our step, feel pain free. We want to spend quality time with our loved ones, feeling positive and grateful. But it can be challenging to know how to get there. We're overwhelmed by all the buttons. What to do? Where to start?
