Gray Hair Don't Care
Everything went wrong. And then she went gray.
At 47, newly divorced makeup artist Lela Bennett is dreading her next steps. Dating. Meeting people. Not letting herself go. But then she runs into Donovan James and tries something different-sleeping with her sexy crush from college. Unfortunately, in a post-orgasm stupor, Lela confesses she was in love with Donovan all those years ago. He responds by leaving while she sleeps. The next morning, her gray hairs are practically taunting her. She knows she has to get it together. Forget men. Embrace her age. Own her gray.
Donovan James is a marketing genius, but his ex-wives will tell you-nothing freaks him out like feelings. Three years after his one-night stand with Lela, he's focused on his daughter's lifestyle company, but unprepared to meet the face of their new beauty brand. It's Lela. With stunning silver locks and new confidence, she's no longer swayed by his charms. When business starts booming, the universe seems intent on throwing them together time and again. And suddenly, two people convinced that romance was behind them are wondering if love could be what's next.

Editorial Reviews
"With this funny, surprising novel, Booth might just have written the definitive Gen-X romance. In addition to the ages of the protagonists-both in their 50s-and how glorious it is to see a woman celebrated as a silver fox, the novel stands out for consistently defying expectations." -Publisher's Weekly starred review

Really enjoyed this book, even though I was a disappointed in Donovan at times, as he was a bit shallow and not much self awareness. I really enjoy reading stories of people who have some history. Fairly light, but thoroughly enjoyable read.

I bought this book because I needed a change of pace and wanted read something different than I normally would. It did not disappoint. I liked this book because the subject dealt with a mature couple and it was done well. I recommend this book.

I’m forever on the lookout for emotionally satisfying stories with strong heroines over forty who are embarking on a ‘second act’ in their lives, and as my own years begin to add up, I find myself gravitating more and more towards not only characters with some miles on them, but also towards stories that make us believe it’s never too late to find true love in life. On one hand, this is a third-chance romance between two college best friends who, after losing touch for more than twenty years, run into one another and have a single night of passion that ends badly in the morning. When they see each other again some years later, their new working relationship forces them to face their past and to deal with feelings that neither of them have ever truly gotten over. But on the other hand, this is also a searingly personal tale of a woman navigating her way through middlescence, of finding herself after a lifetime of self-doubt, and of letting her natural sparkle shine even brighter. I fell in love with every word, every sentence, every page of this exceptional Gen-X romance.

With a gorgeously refreshing voice, Karen Booth blows the unrealistic definition of "prime" being perky bits and youthful bodies into the wind when she brings a middle-aged romance to life with natural depictions of aging, failed relationships and reimagined dreams. GRAY HAIR DON'T CARE is the modern woman's anthem to deserving love at any and all ages, colors, sizes! Lela is enviable. She's strong and self-assured and she takes advantage of the time following the end of the life she thought she'd be leading for the rest of her life to reassess and start new dreams. Donovan is delightfully smart enough to be learning life from a fresh perspective now that he's seeing the world through his grown daughter's eyes ... and it's changing him for the better. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, loves humor and loves a cast of really relatable people who you feel like you could truly enjoy hanging out with in life.
