As always, Donald Miller has invited his customer inside a story and made them the hero. This book will not disappoint with easy and practical frameworks that can be applied to any small business. The best part, it’s not just based on his opinion. The 6-part framework is based on how he has grown his own business. It complements the Business Made Simple platform beautifully, recaps StoryBrand without repeating the entire book, plus has the added benefit of the Small Business Fight Plan. I use the frameworks for my own business as well as clients with great success. Grab the book, highlighter and pen and get ready to watch your business take off. Highly recommend!

I have enjoyed Donald Miller's books and livestreams on marketing frameworks (Marketing Made Simple and Building a Story Brand) because it details step-by-step what and how to. Many books talk about "what" to do, but Donald actually explains in this book "HOW" - which is not easy to accomplish. AND - explains how to incorporate what I've already learned on the marketing side. His clever "flight plan" framework is easy to understand and follow, and is likely going to become a household name for small business growth, like "Kleenex" is for "tissues" - or "Google" is for "internet search" for business very soon. I'm so happy to have this now and be on the leading edge.

I've read several of Donald Miller's other books- Building a StoryBrand, Business Made Simple, and Marketing Made Simple- so I was a skeptical this book would be anything I hadn't heard before. But honestly… WOW!!! While it does mention StoryBrand, it reframed it for the small business owner, and just added so many more gems of information. I've read a ton of other business books too, but I've always struggled to implement much from them. This book was SIMPLE and EASY to understand and implement. Just implementing the meeting worksheets, my team has accomplished more than last quarter. AND the sales formula… AMAZING. I've found I don't get a ton of responses from sales emails, but just using the Customer Is The Hero formula, I got 10 responses in one day!!! Seriously can’t wait to see what else this book does for my company.

While I've been a business owner for years, there are some areas I've put little focus on developing. But I've seen that because I haven't focused on those areas my business growth has become stagnant and other areas have become more chaotic. One of my favorite concepts discussed in the book is the paradigm shift in thinking about my mission statement. I had always thought a mission statement was a one-and-done thing you did and only changed if your business model changed. But, creating a mission statement that evolves with your business goals creates a better roadmap for actually moving forward. This book outlines some simple concepts but with highly effective tactics that provide a strong foundation for building a better, revenue-driven business.
