Life Makeover: Embrace the Bold, Beautiful, and Blessed You

Have you ever been so overwhelmed by responsibilities or other people's needs that you forgot to make time for yourself? They say beauty is only skin-deep, but there is power in embracing your outward beauty as the first step in living with internal boldness, confidence, and renewed joy.

An outside-in approach to beauty isn't for other people's perception of you, but for your interpretation of yourself and how much you're willing to explore. Sachse has confirmed the unmistakable link between external appearance and self-confidence, and she wants to show you how to rekindle both.

In the pages of this book, Sachse offers a vulnerable look into her own mistakes and imperfections and explains how making over her outward appearance resulted in a happier and healthier version of herself-emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Filled with confidence-boosting wisdom about cultivating rest and lifegiving hobbies, Sachse shows you:

I've enjoyed Dominique Sachse's YouTube tutorials for years -- I discovered her after my hair stylist suggested I have a look at Dominique's beautiful short haircut. So I had to order her book -- and wasn't disappointed. The book is part memoir and part motivational self-help, with inspirational beauty advice laced throughout. It's an easy read that is carried along by Dominique's generous personality and seasoned outlook on life. "Life Makeover" includes a few of Dominque's personal stories, for instance, including the mending of her difficult relationship with her father, which I found both interesting and inspiring. Dominique's generosity and grace shines through all she shares with her followers and readers. We all go through phases when we feel stale, outdated, or generally in need of a jumpstart -- especially as we age -- and this guide serves as a pep talk for that. I found myself inspired to make some changes in my own life and appearance each night as I read a few chapters. Those who aren't religious or spiritual might be put off by the author's occasional references to faith and "God's Word" -- but they don't dominate the content and, again, are honest expressions of the author's journey. If you follow Dominique's programs on YouTube, you'll enjoy this book. One last thought: I'd love to see Dominique write a similar makeover/fashion guide with lots of gorgeous color photos -- I think it would be a winner.

I've been watching Dominique's YouTube channel for several years and love her videos, so I eagerly pre-ordered her book as soon as she mentioned she had written it. It doesn't disappoint! Dominique sent out the first few chapters of this book as a pre-order gift, which is how I was able to read it so quickly. As she explains in "A Note to the Reader," "The book is for woman who has ever found her- self adrift in unknown waters, as if she woke up one day living a life wholly unfamiliar to her and seemingly powerless to chart a new course. It is equally for every woman who has felt as if she’s lost in a sea of other people’s needs or drowning in endless responsibilities. And it is for every woman who has been simply swept away, her identity all but forgotten in the tidal wave of life." The focus is on ways -- both small and more profound -- to transform your life, no matter what stage you are in. Part memoir, part advice book, the book is broken down into the following chapters: * "Beauty from the Outside In" * "YOU Are Your Most Valuable Investment" * "Bold and Blessed" * "The Unexpected Power of Rest" * "Fear, Faith, and Fuhgeddaboutit" * "Why It's Time to Get a Hobby" * "The Magic of Mentoring (and Being Mentored)" * "Keeping It Classy" * "Conclusion: Next Steps" If you follow Dominique on YouTube or social media, you know that one of her gifts is being able to share stories, tips, and ideas to inspire women to find the beauty in everyday life and to live life fully, and this book is written in that same vein. Dominique shares parts of her life with us -- including how and why she decided to film her first YouTube video (a smokey eye tutorial) and her philosophy about how fun it is to change up your hairstyle, as she often does, in order to try out something new -- and it's a pleasure to get these insights into her life, as well as her advice for ways to make our own lives more fulfilling. I really enjoyed learning more about how she started in the news; about her relationship with her dad and her mom (who often makes an appearance in her YouTube videos); and about her various approaches to makeup, hair, fashion, and fitness/wellness. Also, although this book is listed in the Christian books section, it's not focused on religion, and so that shouldn't be off-putting to folks who are worried about that. As always, Dominique focuses on her own relationship with religion, but in a way that doesn't make you feel excluded if you're not religious or if you practice a different religion. Overall, reading Dominique's book, as I mentioned in my review title, is like sitting down with one of your best girlfriends over a glass of wine or coffee for a good, long chat. The caring, playful, and authentic tone of her YouTube videos comes thro...

Some binged on Netflix through the Covid crisis and I binged on watching Youtube videos of Dominique Sachese! As a former makeup artist, I loved her hands on approach to application and keeping each video influencing and simplified. She’s a wonderful ambassador to all things beautiful! We each struggled through those difficult days of Covid. So many months gone by without seeing a familiar face, uncertainty, health in jeopardy. Anxiety in every aspect of life! After months gone by and studying her videos, I took the time to reinvest in myself, all while leaning on Dominique to inspire me to, “ fake it ‘till we all make it!” It began with a closet makeover, then to a wardrobe makeover, a hair tutorial ( or two!) and then finding myself breathing easier! I was unstoppable! So thank you Dominique, you planted the very needed seeds! Congratulations to Dominique Sachese! You’re a beautiful, bold and blessed woman in every way! What the world need now is more of this rare combination of intellect, beauty and class! Read her book, share it with your daughters, best friend and someone you’d like to say, “thank you” to along the way.
