I bought the book to read out loud to my kids, 6 and 10, on a family holiday. They liked the book, especially my 10 year old. But I found it to be of very poor quality. Especially the second half that describes the team of kid geniuses solving the crisis in the Congo. The first half was better although the references to science laboured. But the simplification of problems and solutions in part two where just too much. My 10 year old was asking me follow up questions that I could not answer without telling him the book was overly simplistic. That aside the writing isn't great and is extremely repetetive.

I purchased this for my 7 year and she absolutely loved this book. She finished it in one night, and she's referring it to her friends.

4.5/5 Stars TRIGGER WARNINGS: a bit of violence, anger issues, absent parent(s), manipulation, attempted kidnapping REVIEW: Okay, I don’t typically read middle grade novels but this series seriously makes me want to start! I loved and devoured every second of Max Einstein’s story. When I finished, I craved more. I really hope this is longer than a two (2) book series as I really love Max Einstein’s amazing heroine character. I’ve not read much, if anything (?), by James Patterson and his writing really drew me into the story. I was not disappointed one bit! One thing I really loved about this series, is that Max Einstein was portrayed in a way that she could be a role model to not only those younger than her but to the elder crowd as well. James Patterson wrote Max in a way that empowers the reader to think and act on their actions and in the world in a positive way. The main character, Max, was portrayed to be open-minded, confident, ambitious, observant, thoughtful, and a genius child. She’s not used to having friends and working on a team is something new she works through. But the way the team put their differences behind them and came together to save the world was pure bliss! Another thing I enjoyed was all the Albert Einstein quotes and the math/science lessons that were taught throughout. There were also villains added to the story, to give it the thriller vibe. IT WORKED! The Genius Experiment was fast-paced, a page-turner, humorous, extremely easy to read, and promoted teamwork. I highly recommend to everyone to read this crazy novel! “The world is more threatened by those who tolerate evil or support it than by the evildoers themselves.”

Purchased this book for 10 year old girl who loves to read (she would read like 7-8 books at a time). She finished this book in 2 hours. I thought Max was a boy. Turns out it’s a girl. This was a perfect book for my daughter who loves Albert Einstein, and wants to become a scientist when she grows up. She can’t wait for the second book to come out. Highly recommended by my daughter!

My 8yo is an avid reader. Finding appropriate and engaging books for him has been a challenge. He could not put this book down. On day 5, after his normal lights out time, he came downstairs to say "Dad! Go on to Amazon.com right now and give this book a 5 star review. I loved it!" So there is his "its past your bedtime" review. Thank you for giving this Dad a hero moment. :D
