Never Finished: Unshackle Your Mind and Win the War Within
This is not a self-help book. It's a wake-up call!
Can't Hurt Me, David Goggins' smash hit memoir, demonstrated how much untapped ability we all have but was merely an introduction to the power of the mind. In Never Finished, Goggins takes you inside his Mental Lab, where he developed the philosophy, psychology, and strategies that enabled him to learn that what he thought was his limit was only his beginning and that the quest for greatness is unending.
The stories and lessons in this raw, revealing, unflinching memoir offer the reader a blueprint they can use to climb from the bottom of the barrel into a whole new stratosphere that once seemed unattainable. Whether you feel off-course in life, are looking to maximize your potential or drain your soul to break through your so-called glass ceiling, this is the only book you will ever need.

Editorial Reviews
"There are levels to mental strength, and the undisputed gold standard is my friend David Goggins.
The combination of the superhuman spectacle of his accomplishments and the immense gravity of his words serves as one of the most potent motivational drugs that exist on God's green earth.
He's a man who came from a humble and troubled childhood and, through the force of sheer will, forged himself into one of the hardest motherf#ckers that's ever lived. I believe there are people that are put here to elevate our expectations and redefine what's possible for the rest of us, and David Goggins is the best example of that idea that I've ever come across in my life."
--Joe Rogan
"David Goggins is a rare breed of human being. His committment to the philosophy of "achieving your greatness by giving life all you got" through mental toughness and self discipline has been an anchor of inspiration and motivation to millions around the world-myself included. To me, what makes David rare isn't his elite U.S. Navy SEAL career or his record-breaking endurance events as an athlete. What makes him rare is, from the day we connected, he's always been a real guy who shoots from the hip and speaks from the heart. And that's what matters most. Hardest workers in the room."
--Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
"I did not pick David up when he fell, but he did pick me up every time I fell.
David has purposefully and meticulously scrutinized every morbidly ugly aspect of our lives and of his life with raw, brutal, and oftentimes painful honesty. By sharing his life experiences, he has given all of us a blueprint on not only how to pick ourselves up but also how to excel in the face of overwhelming adversity and "stay hard" in the process."

I had listened to Goggins first book on audible during a long drive and have been eager for the next book. This second book here is somehow even better. Pain gives us wisdom, and when you run towards it like a mad dog, you get boat loads of it. And Goggins is gonna carry that boat everyday. Everytime I hear him talk, I'm reminded of that crazy german philosopher with the giant mustache - "Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Nietzsche has his character Zarathustra posit the Übermensch as a goal for humanity to set for itself." Thank you Goggins for getting people to see what is possible when you truly believe nothing can stop you. I already overcame one fear after reading this book. Cant wait to see what else I'm gonna achieve using Goggins mentality.

I first learned about David Goggins from his videos. It’s not that he’s Superman that inspires me, although his physical achievements are amazing. It’s his philosophy of life, on how to challenge your limits through grit, mental toughness, and clear seeing that really makes this book worth reading. I’m a psychotherapist and I see the impact of self-limiting beliefs every day. We all have them. But David Goggins has looked deeply into himself and found the path of turning suffering into fuel for growth, finding meaning in the challenges of life. I am inspired by reading this book to persevere on my own goals, to keep believing in my own capacities, to do the hard work to grow and achieve.

This is not a self help book nor for those who seek motivation through others. This book is a Reality and Accountability check. This is a personal testimonial from a man who seeks to surpass his limits, to get stronger and be better. The book is meant for those who seek to redefine possibility while looking at hard truths! It is not for the weak minded or those who are comfortable where you are! If this book does not light a fire under you, nothing will! Highly Recommended!!!

This book offers excellent practical tips to help you become a mental beast. My key learning outcomes were: Say no to pity parties Whatever your circumstances, whatever cards you were dealt know that it’s not your fault but it’s your responsibility. Complaining won't change anything, so accept your situation and get moving to improve it. Don’t give people power Confront the devil in his human form and take your soul back. We often hold on to sour feelings waiting for an apology that will never come. We make decisions based on how we feel about certain people and we let that negativity guide our steps. You have to detach emotions from negative experiences, move on and take your soul back. Build your mental lab Get in your mind and transform your thinking. Create an alter ego if you need to, then play the part. Every time you look in the mirror you should see that lion that you wish to become. If required, allow your insecurities to push you and drive you to be better. They’re an energy source that you should tap into to conquer your demons. Exercise and running in particular is an under-utilised tool for steel plating your mind. I'm a marathon runner myself and until you cover that distance you will never understand the kind of mental beast you need to become to do that. There's pulled muscles, sore joints, a burning chest and an overwhelming desire to quit, but you just keep going until you finish the mission. That experience evolves you into a mental savage that can overcome anything in life. Remind yourself Learn to lean in on previous triumphs to restore confidence and remind yourself of what you’re capable of. This is an incredible mental hack that helps anybody that's plagued by doubt that they can overcome whatever obstacle is in front of them. Whenever you're struggling, think back to a time when you struggled and still won in the end. That kind of thinking will fuel your efforts.

The interesting thing about this book is it can't be read from a knowledge point of view, but a real understanding that this comes straight from his heart. He is braver than anyone I know because he didn't make himself look pretty but showed time and time again that he had to overcome even the hardest of situations. I was interested in reading the one star reviews to see what they had missed. I can't imagine how anyone can be brave enough to lay out their soul knowing that those who have never been in that low place of believing can't understand you can't rise from what feels like unbeatable defeat. But I know he wrote it for people like me. People who needed to know that you have to look whatever it is in the eye and find your strength, no matter what it looks like. I wanted to learn from someone who lived that. I listened to the book, then bought the book so I could use it as a workbook. There were times when I literally had tears in my eyes as I listened because it touched something deep in me that felt unfixable. I wish I could tell him in person what this book has done for me. I wish he could really know that his and his mothers willingness to share the messy parts of their lives has helped me understand how to heal mine.
