Wow, I love Mel Robbins. Mel has an amazing way of kicking your a** but with love and kindness. I had both the audio book and the physical book on preorder and started listening to is as soon as it was released - i finished it in two days and am now on my second listen and discovering things I didn’t the first time. The physical version is now covered in notes and 4 days later I am already feeling huge benefits from implementing things in this book. It’s raw, honest, beautifully written and backed up with research and science. If you’re looking for a sign that there is more out there for you then this book is it!!

The High 5 Habit is exactly the book I needed right now. It's been a long last almost 2 years and this book came to right at the time I needed it. I'm a fan of Mel and pre-ordered my copy so was able to read it right when it arrived! I had really high expectations because of The 5 Second Rule and I didn't know if this book would be as good, but it really topped it. The book is loosely divided into 3 sections. First, Mel talks all about the power of a high five, the science of high fiving, and how to do the high five habit. I like how the book got right to the point and from the beginning included the most important information first. Then, she moves more broadly into how the brain changes and why we hold ourselves back and how with that information we can make changes through the high five habit. And she gives my favorite habit of the book, "looking for hearts" (which has a really deep meaning). The high 5 habit isn't one habit, there's actually many of them in the book. In the next section, she takes a turn and goes into the biggest things that hold us back from a high five life, and really dives into each thing, like jealousy, guilt, anxiety. And then gives habits to help with each. Mel also shares really honest and moving stories from her life and others, and doesn't hold back at all in describing her behavior in the past. Given how successful she is now, you know that the tools really really work. And then the final section, takes a turn and moves more into what I can only call the "deeper" realm. But with the flow of the book it really works. I don't want to give anything away but Mel shares 2 really powerful stories that illustrate what happens when you use these habits, and especially the one with the painting had me in tears. It was such a beautiful ending and somehow the book combines what you expect from this kind of book, motivational self help inspirational stuff, with memoir, really deep spiritual insights, a big pep talk, and it's still really easy and entertaining to read. I highly recommend this book to just about anyone of any age. And if you're skeptical too Mel lays it all out, there's so much science here. I feel like I have the tools to create a better relationship with myself and as Mel says, that sets the tone for everything in life. I also like how everything in this book is really easy and can be taught to people of any age. I'm definitely going to buy a copy for my daughter. Overall thank you so much Mel for writing such an amazing book and I'm excited to take the high 5 challenge (practicing the high 5 habit for five days in a row.)

After the 18 months that we have had, I need an attitude adjustment, so I pre-ordered Mel Robbins new book. If you don’t know who she is, she wrote The 5 Second Rule. That book changed my life, it helped pull me from a deep despair and make small 5 second decisions that pulled me out of it. So it was without hesitation that I ordered her new book. After reading one chapter..I know I will get that same life altering experience if I put into practice what she is teaching. It’s all about pursuing your dreams and living your best life. I’m ready!

It’s based on her own personal journey, some parts science and research and other parts, well, to each their own when it comes to psychic mediums. Written with total abandon and enthusiasm, it’s easy to be drawn into these pages; even someone as reserved as I am. Her story is honest, sometimes painfully so. It’s humorous, thoughtful and self deprecating all while encouraging readers to find what they need from the story and use it to help themselves to take control and get into the H5H. One of the most interesting parts of this book for me was Mel’s ability to intuit what I would be naysaying or my negative self talk. Many of those potential conversations where I would defeat or derail myself from being successful are preempted and addressed; it’s uncanny. Mel concludes this book by listing all the places she can be found in cyberspace and she gives readers free access to a journal. That was a classy touch📚

I bought the Audible version and listened to it straight through and was blown away. Celebrate myself? Put myself first? These are concepts that are foreign to me, but why? As a 58-year-old wife, mother of three daughters and grandma...........I put EVERYONE else first. I am conditioned, as many of the women my age are, to cheer others on - but never myself. To cheer for myself, in my "raised in the sixties and seventies" mind, is to brag and be self-centered. Well, if I am not going to be self-centered, who is going to put me first? NO ONE! I raised my hand to my mirror this morning and gave myself a HIGH 5! I also bought the book version because I now need to read it again - with a highlighter - and start living! So often, I have started something and not finished it. Why? Because I never knew how to cheer for myself. I have never had anyone who unselfishly put me first. No one high 5's ME! Yes, I am married and my husband is supportive, but I need to learn to pump myself up when I am down. I need to learn to put myself first. The information in this book is incredible. Do not walk to Amazon to order it - RUN!
