Love Leslie's voice it felt like she completely understood my type of "mom" style. The good, bad and uncertainty. Would recommend this book to all new moms and hope she comes out with more!

This book is just SO good. I'm a new mom and have gobbled up what seems like EVERY parenting book I could find, desperately trying to prepare myself for motherhood. In case you wondered - THAT did not prepare me. THIS BOOK would have prepared me. Sure, motherhood is beautiful and what a miracle it is to make life and all that, but most of the time it is NOT beautiful or a miracle. Most of the time it's just hard and Leslie somehow finds a way to tell you that while also making you feel like you are 100% capable of raising a well-adjusted human. For months I felt very alone on my journey into being a mom, but within the first few pages of Leslie's book I felt like I found a friend. An actual real person who GOT IT. Someone who would pour out a glass of wine with me and sit on the couch to hear the real talk of my day, and then fervently remind me that I've got this. I am now buying 10 more copies for my pregnant friends, new mom friends, and upcoming baby showers. It is that good. TL;DR: You need this book. Just buy it already. You absolutely will not regret it.

As a new mom, this book was everything I needed to hear!! The author did such an amazing job telling it like it is- no sugar coating- just real and raw thoughts and feelings. Reading this book made me realize that I'm not alone and this parenting thing is challenging for other people, too. As an OCD planner I read alllll the baby books while I was pregnant, but never did these books once address the transformation that YOU would be going through when you become a mother. Although I think this book applies to all walks of life- I think if you are like me- a 30 something who carefully planned out your life ( i.e. go to college, have a successful career, get married, travel the world, buy a house & then have a baby) you might find that adjusting to this new mama life will rock your world, too. As the author writes in the book (and it makes SO much sense!) you spent the last three decades figuring out who you are as a person and establishing yourself in the world. And then all of a sudden your world drastically changes within minutes and you soon realize you have to mourn that person you once were and try to figure out who this new person is. For me, this was difficult to verbalize and even understand how I felt, so reading this book truly helped me decipher my thoughts & feelings and be able to better deal with them and communicate them to my husband, family and friends. After I read it, I immediately gifted it to all of my new mama friends. Highly, highly recommend!!!!!

THIS BOOK. I can’t say enough good things about it. Read this when my first was 9 months old (she’s almost 2 now!)and I literally felt like I was at my group therapy sessions for new moms. Leslie’s experiences and words really resonated with me in a way that I had never experienced. Do we love our children? Of course - not even a question. Do we love our husbands? Duh - I can’t and won’t even begin to imagine trying to raise our children by myself (massive shout out to single moms and dads, you are the REAL heroes). But when we’re not even able to take care of ourselves, it makes it almost impossible to take care of anyone else. And this book made me feel heard and like I wasn’t alone. The amount of times I audibly said YES and took a pic of an excerpt and sent it to my other new mom friends is too many to count. The amount of aggressive head nodding in agreement as I took in every single word. Constant. I’m expecting my second child and I’m about to read this book again - that’s how amazing it is. Also, I replied to one Leslie’s hilarious stories on Instagram and she messaged me back! We had a real conversation! She’s literally just one of us moms trying to keep it all together. You’re going to LOVE this book. After you buy it for yourself, buy 5 more and give them to your mom friends. Chances are, they’ll buy 5 more for their friends too. Leslie, you rock.
