The tension and suspense just keeps ramping up in this Amish suspense novel by Mary Alford. Jade turns to K-9 trainer Ethan Connors when her sister is kidnapped. The two of them know that there are real criminals plotting some kind of awful and fiery event and somehow Jade’s sister got caught in the middle. Now, Jade and Ethan are racing through the wilderness in a blizzard to save her sister and to thwart an evil plot. The chemistry between the protagonists is brilliantly written and the complicated plot is head-spinning at times as the two race to save the nation against terrorism. The plot crackles with tension as the air gets colder and the weather worsens. This is an intense suspense with a budding romance and a cleverly written page-turner. The book is unique in that it involves an Amish K-9 team and their knowledge about wilderness survival is a welcome addition to the story. I found the characters captivating and the story compelling and relevant, so I highly recommend this book. Amish Country Ransom by Mary Alford is definitely a must read in one sitting. And believe me...you are going to want to read it all before you put it down. It's that intense and that good! First of all, I love books during winter storms. I'm instantly attracted to winter storms especially when it's so hot outside. The cover is gorgeous! I admit that if it's a good cover then I'm more likely to pick up a book and read the back cover to see if it's my type of book. This one checks all the marks. Gorgeous cover, faith based, romantic suspense, FBI agents, k-9s, and a winter storm is everything I could want in a book. If this sounds good to you then I hope you will read this one. It also has an epilogue! Yay! It's a great must read book. If you like books that are intense past-faced where friends are hunting for a kidnapper and killer while also being chased by said killer where feelings might finally come to the surface then don't delay and get this book. These two have a lot of healing that needs to happen. Their backstories only add to this amazing book. Plus, have I mentioned that it has k-9s? I love a good book with k-9s. You won't be sorry you are reading this one. I was given a copy, but all opinions are my very own.

Danger lurks everywhere, it seems. FBI Agent Jade Powell and K-9 trainer Ethan Connors team up to try to stop those who threaten to kill not only them but perhaps many. The duo and three of his dogs head through the snowy Montana winter in an area where Amish live, but the story mostly revolves around this intrepid couple. It amazed me how the two could keep going so long with injuries through the freezing weather and getting soaked without succumbing to hypothermia or eating something to keep up their strength. I also felt sorry for the wonderful dogs, who also carried on without nourishment for hours. The hunt and chase began to seem a bit repetitious, but readers want the good guys to win and the bad ones to get caught—although it seemed like this might never happen, and the author did throw in some surprises. The main characters came across as living and breathing and tough. The Amish men we met in a former novel played a minor role so we don’t get to know them well here, but I’m still surprised they would be willing to shoot people (and Amish are nonresistant, not pacifists). I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
