This volume is a massive oversized hardback edition containing a whopping 447 pages absolutely crammed with information about every Marvel hero, villain, team, and event you could possibly want to know about, and is bang up to date and accurate up until the beginning of 2019. Everyone gets their own entry and it covers everything from major characters like Captain America, Iron-Man, and Thor, to up-and-coming characters like Captain Marvel, to the less known or even the utterly obscure (hey, you want to read about Bi-Beast or Triathlon, they're right here!). Bigger characters get several pages dedicated to their long histories, where as lesser known characters may get half a page or just a couple of inches. Each character has a biography and image(s), as well as information on their powers, height, weight, first appearance etc. The closest I could get to a complaint is that if you already own the previous volume that was released just a few years ago, then you're obviously going to get a lot less out of this one than if this is the first time you've picked one of these editions up because not all of the characters here have been used in the interim period and so a lot of the information here hasn't changed from the previous editions. Additionally there is no information on the hugely successful Marvel movies - this volume is dedicated entirely to the comics that inspired those movies. Other than that however this is a faultless piece of work that should delight any real fan of Marvel, it's characters, and their stories!

The quality of the book was great. I didn't any problems with bent coreners, the dust cover, or any torn pages. -1 star for the limited powers review. Most characters have one sentence or less about their powers -1 star for the mature illustrations. This book isn't for any child under 13, and really it isn't for anyone under 18. Final thoughts, while this is the perfect encyclopedia for marvel comic book fans, it really isnt for someone that has only watched the MCU movies, or tv shows, and keep away from kids.

To be fair I’m a huge Marvels fan and personally having seen the New Edition of marvel encyclopedia I was thrilled to purchase it seeing as it was on sale for a reasonable price . I waited patiently ,and was thrilled when it shipped and wanted to get my hands on it as soon as possible so I could give it a very positive review. But sadly that was not the case now this is my personal review the encyclopedia is amazing lots of information and detail on characters the art looks amazing nice piece to have displayed on your coffee table and have people come over to take a gander at and talk about their favorite character’s But now for the negative my marvel encyclopedia came worn and damaged the protective sleeve was covered in some sticky dirt substance the top corner end was bent and worn there were numerous scratches just horrible. For a new purchase item I was very disappointed now if this was a used purchased I would understand but as it was not I couldn’t look past it so my score stands .

This is the best Marvel guide that is up-to-date (2019) and is truly comprehensive. There are basic and important facts about each character, for example, They inform us that Doctor Doom first appeared in # 5 of Fantastic Four in July 1962. They also set out the essential storylines, for example, The origin of Doctor Doom is told in the Fantastic Four Annual #2. This is the kind of facts that are missing in the DK Guide to DC Superheroes. The drawings, however, may differ. For example, the drawing of Medusa here is a more recent rendition from the Medusa who first appeared in #36 of Fantastic Four. Ant-Man, Yellow Jacket,Giant-Man and Goliath are all Henry Pym, and this confusion is well-explained in this book chronologically, including the circumstances of the changes. Wonderful book for all Marvel Fans, new or old. Makes a nice gift as well.

So I have bought from amazon, Marvel’s The Avengers: The ultimate guide (New edition) and this edition... It has everything you need to know about the Marvel Universe. 99.9% of every character in the Marvel from X-Men, The Avengers, FF4, Spider-Man, etc. What I like about this book has all the new storylines that I’ve heard about. If you’re a fan from MCU and you wanna know more history about these characters before Avengers: Endgame comes out... Buy it! Plus you can’t beat this price for $25 over 400 pages. Awesome book!
