Mountain Murder Investigation (Smoky Mountain Defenders)

This is the 3rd in the series, but can easily be read as a stand alone. Once again a fantastic, suspenseful, and gripping tale of life as a mounted officer in a small town near the Smoky Mountains. I don't want to give too much away, you'll have to just read Raven's story for yourself.

My review today is on the Love Inspired Suspense, Mountain Murder Investigation. This is the third book in the series Smokey Mountain Defenders. I really enjoy Karen's work so I was excited to receive this book in the mail. This story is well-written, action-packed, and full of intrigue. I know you will enjoy this one. Architecture Professor Aiden Ferrer had discovered a cheating ring at the college where he taught. He feared for his life as he gathered evidence of the cheating. With a target on his back, he fakes his own death. /when he learns of his ex-fiancee being threatened, he reveals himself and knows he must keep her safe. Mounted Police Officer Raven Hunt is shocked to find her fiance is not dead but very much alive. Now she finds her own life threatened. One of his students was killed. The clock is ticking she must help Aiden expose the main identities of the university facility members. An exciting journey to stay one step ahead of the killers. God has a plan for these two, a plan for hope and a future. God has a plan for you too, a plan for peace and not for destruction even in this time of chaos and unease. Loved reading this book (I’ve loved the whole series!). You truly won’t be disappointed! Very exciting and hard to put down! I highly recommend this book (and series!)

Mountain Murder Investigation is the third book in the Smoky Mountain Defenders series by Karen Kirst. This was actually my first book that I’ve read of her’s. I’ll definitely be putting the first two books in the series on my TBR list. Raven Hart is mounted police officer from Serenity, Tennessee. One day she is mourning her ex’s death and the next she finds him alive in her house. Aiden Ferrer is a professor who has uncovered a cheating scandal at the college he teaches at. A series of events leads to him faking his own death and now he’s back to help protect Raven. I really loved this book. I knew about learning disabilities, but I had never really read a book with one of the characters having one. I thought Karen Kirst really wrote from a fresh perspective. I loved the idea of Raven being insecure because she fell in love with a professor. She was reliving her childhood all over again even though she had a successful career as a mounted police officer. I really loved Aiden. He saw Raven as she truly was meant to be. A woman who was so smart in other ways. He helped her realize that we are all flawed and God made us each unique with our own special talents. Karen Kirst wrote a book that perfectly blends action, mystery, and faith in one book!

This is my first book to read from this author, but won't be my last. Intriguing plot filled with lots of suspense. I was quickly pulled into the story and didn't want to put it down. Loved these strong characters. This is definitely a book I would recommend to my friends.
